Adele snags Grammy nom without new release
Adele, the 2009 Grammy award winner for Best New Artist, received another nod from the recording industry association with a nomination for the 2010 Grammys in the category for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
Because the 2010 Grammy eligibility period ran October 1, 2008 through August 31, 2009, Adele’s debut album acclaim is still relevant… clearly. She’s being recognized again for her hit “Hometown Glory,” even as she is working on her second release.
The British songstress acknowledges she’s been taking her time with a follow up to her sublime first effort, having been torn between trying new things and sticking to what her fans have come to love. In an interview with UK magazine BANG Showbiz, she said, “Obviously there are new avenues that I want to go down with the sound and I don’t want to leave behind the fans who might not like the new sound I am going for, so I’m a bit wary of that.”
Fans everywhere will be happy to hear that she is “writing it slowly but surely,” but no release date is in sight.
In the meantime, tune in to the 52nd Grammy Awards, which air on January 31, 2010, from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA, on CBS at 8pm (EST).
